If you read first part of this story (you can find it: here), you know already about difficulties one of my friends went through last couple years. Unfortunately, story didn’t end there. This lady ended up homeless because bank sold her home.

I know we all wonder why bad things happen to good people, those who are kind and caring and always willing to help others. I’m really, really hoping that this is the end of the difficulties for her, and that next piece of article she writes will be about something that makes her happy. She certainly deserves happiness.

This Moxie even made a poem about how she faces her disorder:
“I fly high like a kite on a windy day
Winding and twirling
Going end over end
Higher, faster
Weeeeee look at me
I go go go
Up up up

The thunderstorm begins
The rain beats down on me
I spiral downward
Faster and faster
The wind sends me out of control
All hope for me is gone
I crash and fall to pieces”

More than Black and White…

Some people are raised to grow up into what their surroundings expect them to become. When things don’t end up as expected… well, in this case, it’s a good thing. I surely hope you can see all the colors of the world and not only black and white, cause this world is such a wonderful place and, as every Moxie knows, place where we should all help each other on daily basis.

Today’s story is of a real life Moxie – girl who grew up to see other colors than the one she was told existed. Follow me to the Shades Of Black And White. I hope you’ll find other colors there too.

Or at least, when they do, they take it with lots of humor! This is a part of the description of one Moxie lady… what she remembers from her younger days….

“Memories of the not so distant past.
I can remember when…
Pulling on a pair of pantyhose wasn’t an Olympic sport (and yes, some
people still wear them).
The only gray was in my eyes.
The only facial hair I had was my eyebrows.
The only brown spots on my body were freckles.
Laugh lines didn’t permanently remain after the laughter had stopped.
My earlobes did not have a crease in them. What the heck is that all about?
My cheeks hadn’t formed an unholy union with gravitational pull.
The word chin was singular.
I could sleep till morning without side trips.
I could laugh or sneeze without dire consequences.
I can remember when I could still remember.”

If you follow the news, you couldn’t miss the biggest this week – earthquake on Haiti, where people are still struggling to rescue all survivors. People all over the world, moved by this disaster are trying to help in many ways. Group on Squidoo, Rocket Moms, joined the help mission the best way they have available – creating support pages which donate 100% of their earnings to Hope for Haiti. So far, they created 37 pages and you can find them all in RocketMoms Help for Haiti.

I’m blessed with few really great friends. Some of them I haven’t even met, believe it or not! One thing I’ve noticed – most of my friends are survivors, they fight and they don’t give up. Specially, they never give up hope! This is story by and about one of those friends: From Middle Class to Poverty. I’m happy that she sees the light. Finally.

This is relatively old story (from last summer) but it still can be shared with many as an inspiration… What to do when you get fired due to bad economy and you have real threat to loose head over your head? Whining? Well, not this lady. She thought of the way to turn her hobby into a project – making 500 hats to save her home! And she made it!

We all have to speak up sometimes. And some subjects we decide to speak about are simply too important and need to be shared with others. I was lucky enough to stumble on a page about a problem I wasn’t aware of. But this really changed my perspective about what happens to foster children. Now, I’m not saying this happens too often. Have no proof of that. But these sad stories should have never happened. You should read: Drugging Foster Children. And, thank you, Linda for spreading the info about this problem. You have moxie to talk about taboo.

Now, why would I say that a site – Squidoo.com has a moxie attitude? Because of many reasons but for this post, primary reason is a new charity action Squidoo threw and is active during this month!

In recession time, when all of us is looking for every penny we can spare, companies are laying people off in hundreds and many closing their doors…. Squidoo.com is giving away $1.000 daily! From Nov.2nd to Nov.26th, one lens (page) will win $1,000 for a charity of the choosing of the person who created it! It’s not easy to speak about some subjects. It’s not easy to pick your fights! But one lady did that asking for all who would like to help prevent a bloodshed of innocent animals to go through and sign a petition to stop something called Toro Jubilo! Trust me, you want to sign this petition although pictures and clips you’ll see there might make you sick! And, Shellie, you really have a moxie to stand up for what you believe in!
